You Are Welcome Here
No matter who you are,
or where you are on life’s journey,
you’re welcome here!
Visitors Welcome
We want you to come just as you are. When you walk through our doors, you may see people in dresses or suits and ties, but you will also see people in jeans and t-shirts. All that matters to us is that you decided to worship with us today! It's a genuine joy to gather in the Lord's house and share in the praise of the living and loving God.
Visitors are welcome to share in worship, Bible studies, Sunday school, youth group, adult fellowship groups, choir, mission outreach ministries, and other activities and events without the need to join in membership. You are welcome to visit as often as you like, without any pressure to join as a church member. We are glad to share in the Good News of Jesus Christ and in a living relationship with our God through the community of Christian fellowship.
We want everyone to feel comfortable and at home in our church. As part of that effort, we have:
regular and large print bulletins
hearing assistance devices connected to our sound system, available at the rear of the sanctuary (near the doors at the 3rd Street entrance)
handicap accessible restrooms
changing tables in the first floor restrooms and in the nursery
single occupant restrooms
ramp access into the church building (near the handicap parking spaces on our lot, which lead to the doors of our larger social hall/auditorium)
onsite parking lot, plus plenty of street parking and nearby community parking lots
supervised nursery during the worship service (children of all ages are very much welcome in the sanctuary throughout the worship service)
activity packets for children (available at both the front and rear entrances to the sanctuary)
children’s sermon
live streaming and phone streaming of worship services
and more…..
Interested in Joining in Membership
We are always overjoyed when someone is interested in joining in full membership of the family of First Reformed United Church of Christ.
If you are interested in membership, we invite you to contact our Pastor, any member of the Consistory, or the church office. Our Pastor can answer your questions and guide you through the process of joining. If you were baptized in another church, we recognize the baptisms of other Christian churches, and believe in one baptism. If you were never baptized into the Christian faith, our Pastor can help you understand what Christian baptism is about and why we celebrate in that sacrament.
We generally offer “Exploring Faith Classes” (i.e. New Member Classes) twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. Those considering membership are encouraged to participate in those classes to learn more about First UCC and what we believe; however, participating in those classes is not required for membership. If you participate in the class, there is no pressure to join the church, we are happy to have you participate, explore faith, and ask questions. That class is open to visitors, new members, and long-term members alike.
For those in 7th grade through young twenties, rather than the Exploring Faith Classes, we offer a Confirmation Program for those interested in membership, which is a great way for youth to deepen their faith, grow closer to God, and learn more about the Christian faith.
